Why switch my phone off/on?
Sometimes your phone can try to stay connected to a cell a little further away from you. Normally, your phone will automatically disconnect from the further away connection and make a better connection to a closer cell. If your phone is switched on all the time it finds it harder to do this, so it’s important to give it a little boost by switching it off every so often. You wouldn’t leave a TV on all the time; a phone is a bit like that too!
Sometimes powering your phone off and on again will not work. If the issue continues, pull the battery out of your phone while your phone is still switched on. Where this isn’t possible (e.g. iPhones) put your phone into airplane mode for at least 30 seconds, then switch it back to general. This will perform what’s known as a ‘location update’- giving a fresh connection to the network.
