Why can’t I make a premium rate call?
If you see the error message ‘call barred’ when attempting to make a call to a premium rate service, it’s possible you may have a network bar on your account.
If you’re on Pay as You Go:
You’re automatically set up with the ability to make premium rate calls. There are a couple of things you can check:
- Have you enough credit to make the call?
- Are you trying to make a call to a premium rate number (local and/or international) while roaming? This facility is not supported.
- Contact us – you may have requested a bar on your premium rate services previously.
- Some premium rate services do not accept calls from Pay as You Go numbers. You may need to contact the company through an alternative method to verify this.
If you’re on Bill pay:
You’ll need to have paid two bills before we can activate this service on your account.
If you would prefer to have this activated immediately, you can make an advance payment of €60 while making the request. This will be credited on your next bill. You can make this payment in any Meteor Store, by sending us a bank draft or postal order (made payable to Meteor & also include your Meteor mobile number on the back of it) or if you have registered your credit card we can take your payment over the phone. Once we have received your payment we will set up the service.
You can reinstate the bar on your account at any time. Simply contact us.
If the above troubleshooting steps don’t resolve your issue please take three recent examples and contact us. If possible – note the error message you’re getting, the time, date and number.
